The Festival will be on W. 36th Street between Falls Road and Chestnut Avenue. Booth placement will depend on vendor type and available space. All vendors will be notified of placement by August 31st.

The Hampdenfest Committee reserves the right to restrict and refuse an applicant’s participation if it exceeds the limitations of a category, space availability or for any other reason deemed. In such cases, the application fee will be refunded.

• No rain date. No refunds. This is a one day event.
• Set-up by 10:00 AM.

Entries forms and entry fees will be accepted until 9am September 10th 2011, the day of the race assuming that race slots are still open. Racing slots will be filled on a first come basis and there are only 32 spots so register early.

Teams must be checked in on the day of the race by 9:00am
Racing starts at 10:00am at the intersection of 36th Street and Chestnut Avenue.

***The Official Rules***

THE OFFICIAL RULES
The Toilet Racer:
1. All racers must include at least one clean human defecation device.
2. All racers must be gravity powered, and my not have any other power source.
3. The dimensions of a racer may not exceed 5 feet wide 12 feet long and 13 feet tall.
4. There are no minimum dimensions for a racer, but it must carry at least one pilot during the race.
5. The racer must be capable of steering both left and right.
6. The racer must have a break and be capable of stopping.
The Team:
7. Each “team” is comprised of a “racer”, a “pilot”, and “crew”.
8. Each team must have at least one and can have up to three pilots.
9. Each team must have at least one and can have up to four crewmembers.
10. The total number of team members may not exceed seven.
11. All pilots must be at least 18 years old.
11. All team members must complete and sign a race waiver to participate.
The Races:
12. Each team will be randomly assigned a bracket.
13. Races will be single elimination style drag races. Morning motos qualify for the afternoon and main
races.
14. All pilots must remain seated on his/her defecation device at all times while racing.
15. All pilots are required to wear a helmet at all times while racing.
16. A team must have at least one crewmember as a pusher who can also serve as the pilot but must be
on the racer within the push zone.
17. A team may use up to three crewmembers as pushers at the beginning of each race.
18. Pushers may only push within the marked starting zone, which will be 20 feet long.
19. The racecourse will be approximately 600 feet long.
20. Race officials reserve the right to deny entry to any racer that does not conform to the rules or is
deemed unsafe.
21. Race officials will disqualify any team that does not conform to the rules or are deemed to be jerks.

The Great Baltimore Mac Off Competition

The competition is open to both amateur and professional cooks/chefs. We encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible since space is limited.

Your Entry: Your dish MUST represent "Macaroni & Cheese" and must showcase both pasta and cheese as the main ingredients. Non-traditional ingredients, highlights, and cooking methods are acceptable. Please bring a "Full Pan" size of your entry, which is the equivalent of 2 13x9 standard home baking dishes.

All contestants are required to prepare their dish in a licensed kitchen.

Home Cooks: If you do not have access to a licensed kitchen, you will be provided use of a licensed facility to prepare your dish on the morning of the event. You are responsible for bringing your own ingredients, cooking utensils and other implements you need to make your dish. If you need special equipment – bring it. You will need to clean up your kitchen space before your dish can leave the kitchen to the contest. You may bring a helper to assist with clean up. We will have a representative of GBMO present to answer questions and to ensure that everything goes smoothly. GBMO will provide chafing dishes with fuel and serving utensils at the GBMO booth, and we will provide transport of your dish to the booth.

Professionals: Your dish must be prepared in a licensed kitchen. Please bring your own chafing dish and fuel. Your dish must be at the GBMO booth by 1:45pm and be ready to serve.

All Contestants: GBMO will have staff on site to serve the dish. Once your dish is set up for serving, we ask that you leave the serving area to make room for the tastings.

Tastings and judging will be from 2pm to 4pm. Tastings and judging are “blind”. You may not tell the judges, nor the public “tasters”, which dish is yours, or your dish will be disqualified and your entry fee will not be refunded. “Best Home Cook” and “Best Professional” entries will be judged by our panel of judges.

“People’s Choice” will be judged by the public. Tasting Tickets will be available for sale at the festival from 10am to 3:30pm, or until the tickets are sold out.

PRIZES: Gift baskets containing giftcards and merchandise from Hampden Merchants as well as an ad announcement in the CityPaper for the Winners.

DEADLINE: Applications and entry fees must be received by Wednesday, September 7th at 6pm. The fee must be received by the deadline to validate your application.

PROCEEDS: Proceeds from the contest will benefit the Hampden Food Pantry, a local food bank that provides free groceries to hundreds of needy families in North Baltimore.

What Is Hampdenfest?

HampdenFest began as a local community event organized by the Hampden Village Merchants Association and the Hampden Community Council, but in recent years has evolved into a neighborhood arts festival that draws visitors, as well as local residents, to enjoy the community of merchants on and around West 36th Street. Co-sponsored by the Hampden Village Merchants Association and the Hampden Community Council, and with the continuing support of The Hampden Family Center, HampdenFest features 4 stages of music and art performances, an activity area for kids, an emerging artists exhibit and a film festival, as well as four blocks of arts and crafts vendors and other wares from a wide range of merchants and artists. Hampden itself has hundreds of local businesses which are consistently listed in Baltimore Magazine and the City Paper's Best of Baltimore.

For seekers of great food and an engaging atmosphere, HampdenFest offers an abundance of Baltimore, Chesapeake Bay and local Hampden cuisine, including pit beef, crab cakes, and locally brewed beer from The Brewer's Art. A mix of national and local independent rock, folk, punk, acoustic bands and DJs will perform throughout the day, live, at any of the festival's four stages.

The festival is also sponsored by many local community leaders and merchants, working to encourage the continued improvement and economic vitality of our neighborhood and the arts.

Take I-83 South to Cold Spring Lane east (Exit #9A). Turn right onto Falls Road (south). Travel about one mile to 36th Street (The Avenue). Turn left.

From Downtown Baltimore
Take I-83 North to Falls Road (Exit #8). The first light is 36th Street (The Avenue). Turn right. Or take MTA Bus #27.

By Light Rail
Get off at the Woodberry stop.

Parking
Parking is available at the Rotunda (off Elm Avenue) parking lot, as well as in many neighborhood streets. Some parking spaces are restricted or metered. There will be no parking on 36th St and no parking on Chestnut Ave between 36th St and 34th St.
